Montserrat, only one hour from Barcelona, is a must-see destination for any visitor to Catalonia. With its famous monastery, jaw-dropping scenery, and even a winery housed in a 10th Century castle, this is a stunning day or half-day trip from Barcelona. There are three different daily tour options, all including wine and tapas or lunch, for this popular tour.
Option 1: 6.5-hour Highlights Tour (€74.95)
For those wanting to pack as much into their Barcelona trip as possible, this tour departs from Barcelona at 8:45am and is typically back in the city by 2:30pm. The morning half-day tour of Montserrat still includes a visit to the beautiful wine country, a local wine tasting and a traditional tapas lunch, as well as a local English-speaking guide to bring the fascinating history of Montserrat to life, however, the tour activities are more densely-packed to get you back to the city earlier.
Option 2: 7-hour Tour with Rack Railway Ticket (€89.95)
For those still interested in a more condensed tour to Montserrat, but not wanting to forfeit their holiday sleep in, we offer a tour leaving Barcelona at 10am, and typically returning at around 5:30pm. As well as the local wine tasting, traditional tapas lunch and local English-speaking guide, this tour also takes in Montserrat at a slightly more leisurely pace, giving you more free time to wander the area. This tour also includes a Rack Railway ticket, so that you can enjoy a scenic cogwheel train ride up to the monastery.
Option 3: 11-hour Full Day Tour (€99.95)
If you’ve got time on your Barcelona holiday to relax and take in Montserrat at a more leisurely pace, then this is the tour option for you. Leaving Barcelona at 8:45am, and typically returning by 7:30pm, this full and extended tour gives you a full day to soak up the wine country, discover the local traditions and to generally take your time in the stunning Montserrat. As well as the local wine tasting, multi-course lunch and local English-speaking guide, you’ll also have around two hours of free time to experience Montserrat, which you might use to see the famous La Moreneta (the black Madonna) or even to see l’Escolania, the boys’ choir. For wine lovers, you’ll also have more time to buy wine at the cellar, with shipping available.
